This particular one was one of the sweetest gifts that I’m so happy to have had a little part in- a gift for a daughter from her father for her graduation from college. Inspired from sightings they’ve seen at their #southtexas ranch, the roadrunner made front and center focus of this piece. I wish y’all could see the metallics in the feathers! 🪶 . Port A 🩵 this place. I love it. It’s been such a big part of my life for over a decade. I chose to go to school in Corpus Christi because of the beach here, then shortly after started showing my art at the local coffee shop, painted my first mural here and many since then, showed my art at the local art center (which I miss & hope they can get new management soon!), started painting Farley Boats and still do- to this very day!, have met tons of amazing artists and beach lovers here, and explored the bays and gulf from its shore. I’m happy to have memories pre Hurricane Harvey and witness and be part of its evolution! Although it has changed significantly, it’s still a beautiful island that I’m so grateful to be on frequently! I hope you get the chance to put your toes in the sand soon in #portaransas! 🏝️ . My insane husband @kyleabunga loves to #spearfish & is really great at it! Shooting guns under water at fish swimming by- what!? Okay, cool. So naturally, when we started dating I wanted to learn, too. It’s such a crazy thing to learn. Put on all this dive equipment, learn to string the speargun, swim around, hold your breath and dive down, wait for a fish to come by that you want to harvest, hopefully aim correctly, swim back up for air, pull your line and spear in and get that fishy on a stringer while you’re swimming.. omg it’s a lot! I learned at the jetties, but the fish selection and clarity is better at the offshore rigs, which the closest are about three miles offshore here on #padreisland or #mustangisland. Kyle took me for the first time on his panga with just the two of us- looking back this was so dumb and scary- and we approach this giant rig platform in the middle of the gulf and he’s like, “grab that pipe hook” (giant piece of aluminum pipe folded into a hook shape) “and hook it around that rig leg” (as we drove straight toward it).. WHAT!? okay.. Praise Jesus I hooked it first try. My heart was just racing and now we’re gonna get off this boat and into the water. I was so scared!! But yall, once we were in my mind was blown by the beauty! The color, the clarity, ALL the fish! Still scared, but full of stoke, and thanking God for the safety, we returned to shore with some mangrove snapper. We’ve been several times in various vessels, including a trip with @smokingredskayakfishing on pedal drive kayaks launched from the shore on the smoothest day ever! Cobia, mangroves, black drum, sheepshead, even spade fish (surprisingly tasty) have filled our bellies from the rigs of the gulf. It’s been a while, but looking back doing that with only two of us, and me being inexperienced, I would prefer at least a third person with us. I guess I’ve matured some since then, but still can’t wait till next dive! I love the ocean! 🌊 . Install by @bowmandesignandframing #kgloverart

Throwback to… 2015 (?) when I painted this master copy for the @islanduniversity President’s Council Art Show. I placed… something that received a ribbon 😅… and was purchased & lives in on the Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi campus in either the Bell Library or University Center. 🤪😚🧐 * suggestion for young artists: keep better records of your accomplishments and achievements than I have! I know I sound absolutely coocoo trying to tell you about this, but the photo is a cool reminder of a time in my life I just wanted to share. This was one of my first oil paintings that started with a drawing, grayscale, then color glaze on panel. I had such a great time in the #bfa program at TAMUCC & living by the beach. My hair was so blonde from the sun and so dry from the saltwater. When I saw my mom after months of being here she told me my hair was like straw 😂🌊☀️ . #kgloverart #journey #memories #tamucc
